January 15th PLACE walk

Posted on

Happy new year! As indicated in the autumn newsletter, we are intending to have walks for PLACE members and friends on the third Saturday in each month this coming year (although the April walk will be on the fourth Saturday to avoid the Easter weekend). The locations and walk details will be advertised in the newsletters. Booking will not be necessary and the routes may be amended in view of weather conditions on the day and the abilities of participants.

Riverside path, Beningbrough [Denny Mallows]

Philip Mander and I are happy to lead a walk on the third Saturday in January, i.e. January 15th. We suggest a walk from Beningbrough, starting from the car park at Beningbrough Hall (free) at 11.00am. The walk will be only about 4 miles long and the terrain is flat but the path near the river may be muddy, so sticks will be useful. Beningbrough Hall itself will be closed but the farm shop nearby will be open and has a cafe and toilets. We suggest only taking a drink and perhaps a chocolate bar with us and then having refreshments at the cafe after the walk (probably between 1.00 and 2.00pm). The cafe has requested numbers, so we will let them know how many people to expect when we pass the farm shop near the start of the walk. There is no need to book, unless you wish to e-mail to let us know you will be coming. We appreciate that numbers may depend on the weather on the day! Please draw this notice to the attention of anyone you know who may be interested in coming, as the January newsletter may not reach people in time.
