Flamborough field visit
Posted on
The PLACE visit to Flamborough on July 30th was a great success. Seventeen people enjoyed a real treat in the morning, as geologist and PLACE Fellow, Richard Myerscough led us down the steep steps to Selwick Bay, where we studied the fascinating geology on the beach and in the cliffs. Richard had thoughtfully provided hard hats, so we looked the part!
In the afternoon, we enjoyed a walk along the cliffs at Bempton RSPB nature reserve, led by Anthony Hurd of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. In glorious sunshine, we saw kittiwakes, gannets, fulmars and puffins and marvelled at the coastal scenery.
A full account of this fieldtrip will appear in the next PLACE newsletter. Many thanks to both Richard and Anthony for giving us such an enjoyable and stimulating day.
