Wolds Churches

On Sunday 23 May, Richard Myerscough led a joint visit with the Ryedale Vernacular Building Materials Research Group, to study the churches and scenery of the Great Wold Valley, East Yorkshire. We started from Rudston Church, with its famous prehistoric monolith, visited Foxholes Quarry and Weaverthorpe and ended at Wharram-le-Street.  It was one of the hottest days of the year but, despite this, everyone enjoyed the day and learned a great deal about the local geology and building stones.
