Warter and Nunburnholme in glorious sunshine
Posted on
Our fieldtrip to Warter and Nunburnholme on 6th July was enjoyed by 17 PLACE members and led by Richard Myerscough and Peter Halkon. The morning was spent at the Wolds Heritage Centre – the redundant parish church in Warter – where Rose Horspool gave a fascinating presentation on the history of the site. Coffee and home-made cakes were enjoyed by everyone. The afternoon session saw us in Nunburnholme, looking firstly at a Viking-age cross in the church and then walking round the village looking at building stones and earthworks. Red kites made an appearance overhead to complete a wonderful day in glorious sunshine. A full report will appear in the next newsletter. Many thanks to Richard and Peter for their expert leadership.
