Other events of possible interest this summer

PLACE is not the only organisation with interesting events this summer.  There are two different ways to spend the weekend of August 11th – 12th:

YORK MYSTERY PLAYS – Performances and Symposium.  To complement the 2012 Mysteries taking place this August, the Guilds and Companies of York will ‘bring forth’ two special performances of Plays from the York Mystery Plays on 11th and 12th August – ‘The Creation to the Fifth Day’ and ‘Noah’.  These will be performed at the West End of the Minster and on College Green and are free events.  There is also a symposium at the National Centre for Early Music on 11th August following on from the wagon performances.  The symposium costs £15.00, including afternoon tea. A morning session on 12th August is also planned.  For details of these events and to book, go to their website: www.yorkmysteryplays.co.uk

GEOLOGY IN THE CEMETERY is also taking place on the afternoon of Sunday 12th August, starting at 2.00pm and led by Sheila Bartlett.  Cost £2.50.  No need to book. York Cemetery is full of interest for geologists and this talk will explore some of the headstones and their geology.  Contact the cemetery for further details.
