Dales Heritage Field School

PLACE ran a joint day-school with the Yorkshire Dales Landscape Research Trust in Grassington on Saturday 30th October 2010. It was led by Dr Roger Martlew, Dr Graeme Swindles and Dr Janet Fletcher and attended by 34 people. The course allowed participants to see at first hand some of the techniques that are used to investigate the rich historic landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales,  combining reports on current research projects with a workshop on environmental evidence. In the afternoon there was a visit to new areas of investigation among the nationally-important field systems around Grassington. A full report of the day-school will appear in our winter newsletter.  Meanwhile, here are some photos of the indoor part of the event, taken by PLACE member, Fiona Hopkinson.
