Meet at 11.00am near the Castle in Spofforth (SE 363513). The walk of c.6.3 miles will be led by Philip Mander and will include a visit to Spofforth Castle and a lunch break in Kirkby Overblow (where there are two pubs). The terrain is flat or gently undulating but some of the paths could be muddy in wet weather. There are a few stone stiles. Bring a packed lunch and wear boots or stout shoes.

There is a bus service between Leeds and Harrogate via Wetherby. By car, take the Harrogate bypass (A658) and turn on to the A661 at the Brown Hill roundabout south of Knaresborough (signed to Wetherby). Follow the road southeast for c.3 miles to reach Spofforth and park on the roadside.

This is a free event but numbers are limited to 20 people.
