Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire

Details

George Sheeran will lead this tour of Scarborough, postponed from autumn 2020. Meet at 10.30am outside the main entrance of the Grand Hotel on the cliff top in Scarborough (TA 044883). It is a very short walk from the railway station. If you are coming by car, it is best to use the Park + Ride service, which stops in the town centre.

Throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries Scarborough attracted many wealthy and elite visitors. On this walk we will explore some of the nineteenth-century architecture built to the south of the town centre associated with such families. The walk will last for approximately one and a half hours along paved streets. There will be one steep but short uphill climb. This is a free trip but numbers are limited to 20 people.
