Details
Meet at 11.00 am outside the village hall in Westerdale (NZ 664058, post code: YO21 2DT). In the morning we shall be visiting Round Hill Iron Age oval hilltop fort and looking at orthostatic and boulder walling. Roger Inman will be our guide. In the afternoon, local botanist and historian, Carol Wilson, will lead a walk to look at wild flowers and also some Templar sites nearby. Carol has written books on the history and flora of Westerdale and will bring copies with her for people to buy, if they wish. Carol’s group is limited to 10 people. Roger Inman will take the rest of the party to look at current excavations of a 12th century chapel in Kildale.
Bring a packed lunch and wear stout footwear. This is a free trip but numbers are limited to 20 people.
