Our autumn conference 2010 was held at the Waterways Museum in Goole on 2 October and attended by 50 people. The unusual venue was a conference barge! Four fascinating papers were presented:
- Michael Hopkinson: ‘A desperate dangerous design’: the rise and fall of Yorkshire’s canal system.
- Robb Robinson: Far horizons: from the River Hull to the Ends of the Earth.
- Bob Watson: The ‘Sobriety’ Project and the Port of Goole (presented by Clare Hunt).
- Judy Jones: Conservation and Recreation on the Waterways.
In the afternoon, we enjoyed boat trips around Goole docks. The proceedings of the conference will be published early in 2011.
